September 4 & 5, 2019 - "Adaptive Optics Ophthalmoscopy and OCT" Meeting
ADAPTIVE OPTICS OPHTHALMOSCOPY AND OCT
Meeting - September 4 & 5, 2019 - Paris
High resolution imaging technologies, exemplified by adaptive optics ophthalmoscopy (AOO) and optical coherence tomography (OCT) are progressively transferring from the lab to the clinic. This is an opportunity to better understand retinal diseases, to optimize their management but also to provide novel biomarkers for other medical specialities. However, there is still an unmet need in the field of clinical interpretation of AOO images, and more importantly in the integration of AOO into clinical practice.
It is in this context that the FRCRnet network is organising a meeting on adaptive optics ophthalmoscopy and OCT, that will take place in Paris, on September the 4th and 5th, 2019. The goal of this course is to report on the latest advances of high resolution imaging, both on its technical and medical aspects. Physicists, ophthalmologists and technicians will share their thoughts and experiences in the use and interpretation of AOO.
This course is provided by an approved training organisation and fall within the scope of continuing education (Université Paul Sabatier Toulouse III - 118 route de Narbonne - 31062 Toulouse Cedex 9 / SIRET : 19311384200010 / Registration official number: 7331P001631).
1 day of theoretical training + optional 1/2 day of practical training
DAY 1 - September 4 : Meeting & Posters
This first day of training will be devoted to the theoretical training of the attendees. The seminar will broach basic knowledge on high resolution optical imaging along with a wide variety of normal and pathological retinal images, as observed multimodally with AO and OCT technologies. There will be a clinical focus on the clinical AO rtx1 device. Attendees may bring their own clinical cases or technical questions for collective discussion at the end of the session (please advise us in advance since time may be limited).
Poster sessions will be organized between the different presentations of the seminar.
The presentations will be in English.
If you want to present a poster, please submit your abstact here
DAY 2 - September 5 : Practical AOO training and innovative imaging systems
This second day of training (9:00am - 1:00pm) is optional and restricted to a limited number of attendees. Specific registration is required : if you want to participate, please advise us when you will fill in your online registration form.
The morning of this second day of training will be devoted to practical sessions : one for clinicians (10 attendees) and the other for techical experts and physicists (10 attendees). The clinical group will see demonstrations on the rtx1 camera in controls and patients. Participants will have the possibility to perform examinations on each other, during which the various structures observable by AOO will be commented. Participants are also encouraged to bring their own clinical cases for informal case discussions. New high resolution imaging systems will also be presented. The technical group will visit the technologies under development at the Quinze-Vingts Hospital and will have the opportunity to experience clinical imaging on patients and controls with these devices.
