ECRIN and SCReN are organizing International Clinical Trials Day (ICTD) 2025, to be held on Tuesday May 20, 2025 in Madrid, on the theme "Rethinking Clinical Trials: Inclusivity in Practice".

Since its launch in 2005 by ECRIN, in line with its mission to support multinational clinical research in Europe, the ICTD brings together patients, healthcare decision-makers, regulatory authorities, researchers, healthcare professionals and citizens from Europe and beyond every year. The event commemorates the first documented clinical trial, conducted by James Lind on May 20, 1747 on sailors suffering from scurvy. It is a unique opportunity to address each year a major issue in clinical research.
In 2025, the focus will be on inclusivity in clinical trials. The requirement for greater diversity in trials is now recognized in Europe, and it is necessary to move from mere discussion to concrete action. The ICTD 2025 thus aims to raise awareness of the issues of diversity, equity and inclusion in clinical research. The event will highlight initiatives already in place and identify the challenges that remain to be overcome.
More details will soon be available on the ECRIN website: www.ecrin.org.
