France has significant strengths for conducting clinical trials: recognized scientific expertise, world-class research infrastructure, an efficient hospital network, and access to patients across numerous therapeutic areas. To better highlight these strengths to international sponsors, the French Healthcare Association and F-CRIN, in collaboration with Inserm, the National Research Coordination Committee (CNCR), the Conference of University Hospital Directors, industry representatives (Leem and Snitem), and AFCROs—and with the support of the Agency for Innovation in Health and Business France—the launch of the “My French Clinical Trial” webpage, a new showcase dedicated to clinical research in France. This page aims to provide foreign sponsors with a gateway to discover the French clinical research ecosystem and facilitate the development of their trials in France.
A Gateway to French Clinical Research
Designed to meet the needs of foreign sponsors, My French Clinical Trial provides a concise overview of:
- France’s key strengths for conducting clinical trials
- the key players in the French ecosystem;
- the approval and opening processes for clinical trial sites;
- a single point of contact, administered by F-CRIN, to direct project leaders to the contacts best suited to their needs.
The goal is to simplify access to information and support sponsors in their initial steps to encourage the establishment of clinical trials in France.
A collective effort to enhance France’s appeal
This initiative fully illustrates the role of catalyst played by F-CRIN, which spearheaded this project alongside the French Healthcare Association by bringing together the leading French players in clinical research.
The project has mobilized the entire ecosystem, bringing together partners from academia, hospitals, industry, and clinical research service providers.
This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to promoting, on the international stage, a coordinated, transparent, and attractive French offering.
A first step toward a national reference portal
The launch of My French Clinical Trial marks the first step in a more ambitious initiative. Depending on its impact, the needs expressed by users, and the commitment of the stakeholders involved in the initiative, this initiative could evolve into a full-fledged national portal dedicated to clinical research, similar to platforms already developed in several countries such as South Korea, Australia, Denmark, and the United Kingdom.
By enhancing the international visibility of its ecosystem and simplifying access to its expertise, France is thus affirming its commitment to consolidating its position as a leading destination for international clinical research.
