- Maladies cardio-rénales
All too often ignored, cardio-renal diseases represent a major public health issue. Affecting millions of people in France and around the world, these insidious pathologies, at the crossroads of the heart and kidneys, progress silently and cause serious complications. To alert, screen and fund research, the Du Cœur au Rein association and the INI-CRCT network are organizing the 8ᵉ edition of the Circuit du Cœur au Rein in Nancy on September 7, 2025. A unique event combining solidarity, prevention and automotive passion, to advance research and mobilize widely around a vital cause.
Cardio-renal disease, a little-known public health issue
Cardio-renal diseases, still too little known to the general public, constitute a major public health issue, in France as well as worldwide. They result from the complex interaction between the heart and the kidneys, two closely linked organs whose dysfunctions aggravate each other. Today, millions of people are affected by these silent pathologies, often linked to chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension or obesity. Their progression is insidious: clinical signs appear late, when the damage is already advanced, and sometimes irreversible. In the absence of early detection, these diseases evolve into severe forms, which may require dialysis, transplants or heavy cardiovascular treatments. Their impact is considerable, both on thequality of life of patients and on the costs to the healthcare system. Yet simple screening tools and innovative treatments exist today to significantly slow their progression. Awareness-raising, prevention and research are therefore essential levers for reversing the trend.
The "Heart to Kidney" tour, an event not to be missed in Nancy (Lorraine)
On Sunday September 7, 2025, the Du Cœur au Rein association, represented by its president Pr Patrick Rossignol, are thus organizing the 8ᵉ edition of the Circuit du Cœur au Rein. This emblematic solidarity event combines automotive passion with a commitment to medical research.
The objective is clear: to advance research on cardio-renal diseases, thanks to the support of the INI-CRCT network (Investigation Network Initiative and cardiovascular and Renal Trialists), labeled F-CRIN and coordinated from Nancy by Pr Rossignol and Pr Girerd.
For the past eight years, the success of this event has contributed to the Fonds du Cœur au Rein, created under the aegis of Fondation Id+ Lorraine (Université de Lorraine). This fund plays a structuring role, making it possible to give life to the network, support its research projects and deploy prevention actions across the territory.
Thanks to the donations collected, an initial hemodialysis study has been launched, integrated into a national registry already including over 500 patients across France.
This 2025 edition is a continuation of actions carried out throughout the year, in particular the awareness and screening day organized last March, on the occasion of International Kidney Week, in partnership with France Rein Meurthe-et-Moselle and the CHRU de Nancy.
A car ride to advance research
This day will bring together collectors', sports and prestige cars on the roads of Lorraine, in a convivial atmosphere. Departure with fanfare for exceptional vehicles: classic cars and prestige models.
"We invite collectors, companies, sponsors, patrons and the general public to become actors of this day placed under the sign of generosity and automobile passion. Together, we can advance research into cardio-renal diseases, benefiting thousands of patients, while enjoying a unique and convivial moment. More than ever, research needs your help. Join us! " comments Pr Patrick Rossignol, nephrologist, vascular physician, coordinator of the INI- CRCT network.

Created and labeled by F-CRIN in 2014, coordinated by Pr Patrick Rossignol (nephrologist, vascular physician and professor of therapeutics, head of the nephrology-hemodialysis medical specialties department at the Princess Grace Hospital in Monaco since 2022, Pr Nicolas Girerd (cardiologist and professor of therapeutics at the Nancy CHRU, and Pr Rossignol's successor as coordinator of the Nancy CIC Plurithématique since 2022), with Pr Bénédicte Sautenet (PU-PH Thérapeutique, nephrologist CHRU Tours) and Pr Jean-Sébastien Hulot (Professor of Medicine and cardiologist Hôpital Européen Georges Pompidou), INI-CRCT is a research network of excellence, supported by Fondation Id+ Lorraine, made up of men and women working together to improve the cardiovascular prognosis of kidney failure patients. Its multidisciplinary approach, unique at international level, brings together French experts in cardio renal diseases (cardiologists, nephrologists, vascular physicians, cardiac surgeons and vascular surgeons, intensive care anesthetists, internists, geriatricians, general practitioners, methodologists, epidemiologists, basic researchers), as well as an ARO (Academic Research Organisation- Fondation FORCE), the INSERM-DGOS Cardiovascular CIC network, hemodialysis centers, heart failure networks, the Agence de la Biomédecine, and the NIT foundation of the Université de Lorraine. Its coordination unit has been ISO9001-certified since 2019. Since its creation, the INI-CRCT network has contributed to over 700 publications https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/?term=INI-CRCT
